Contract Details: Federal Express, El Segundo, Calif., has received an indefinite-delivery/requirements, fixed-price with economic price adjustment contract award. This contract has an overall four-year estimated contract value of $182,508,228. The contract is for cold-chain packing and logistics and international air transportation for primarily fresh fruits and vegetables from the United States West Coast to various Pacific locations in support of the Defense Commissary Agency and Defense Logistics Agency. The scope of work requires the contractor to provide the initial receiving and overpacking of government-procured subsistence, necessary cold-chain maintenance, time-definite door delivery, transportation, timely and accurate intransit visibility, Government Third Party Payment System participation, and customs and agricultural clearance processing. Work will be performed on the United States West Coast and internationally. The performance period for the base year is Oct. 1, 2011 to Sept. 30, 2012, with three one-year option periods from Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2015.
