BAE Systems, Minneapolis, Minn., is being awarded an $8,899,424 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-09-C-5394) for engineering services in support of the MK 41 vertical launching system. The contractor will primarily provide design, analysis, and test services for the MK 29 Mod 0 canister in support of Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) SM-3 cooperative development integration into the MK 41 vertical launching system. Other efforts funded include engineering services for MK 21 Mod 3 canisters and engineering services to support the MK 41 vertical launching system ship installation efforts. Work will be performed in Minneapolis, Minn. (77 percent), and Brea, Calif. (23 percent), and is expected to be completed by December 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
