Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS), Pascagoula, Miss., is being awarded a $9,986,434 cost-plus-award-fee modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-06-C-2304) for procurement of DDG 1000 research, development, test and technical services. The mission of the DDG 1000 Zumwalt Class of Destroyers is to provide affordable and credible independent forward presence/deterrence and to operate as an integral part of the Naval, Joint, or Combined Maritime Forces. DDG 1000 will provide advanced land attack capability in support of the ground campaign and contribute Naval, Joint, or Combined battle-space dominance in littoral operations. Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Miss. (45.09 percent); Herndon, Va. (26.66 percent); Annapolis, Md. (6.53 percent); Aberdeen, Md. (4 percent); West Bethesda, Md. (3.75 percent); Linthicum, Md. (2.68 percent); San Antonio, Texas (3.76 percent); Washington, D.C. (2.32 percent); Reston, Va. (2 percent); Arlington, Va. (1.20 percent); Pt. Mugu, Calif. (1.01 percent); Newport News, Va. (0.75 percent); and Tacoma, Wash. (0.25 percent), and is expected to be completed by December 2007. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
