L-3 Communications Applied Technologies, Inc., San Leandro, California, is being awarded a $7,120,043 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-07-C-4223) to fabricate, assemble, test, and deliver a total of four containerized battery energy storage and charging systems for the electromagnetic railgun pulsed power system. The commercially based power supplies included in the battery and charging power supply prototype containers are required to charge the repetition rate pulse power for the railgun innovative naval prototype demonstration. Work will be performed in San Leandro, Calif. (68 percent) and San Diego, Calif. (32 percent), and is expected to be completed by June 2016. Fiscal 2015 research, development, test and evaluation contract funds in the amount of $3,616,085 will be obligated at the time of award and will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.
