BAE Systems Surface Ships Ltd., United Kingdom, is being awarded a $22,172,442 firm-fixed-price contract for the production and delivery of Archerfish Destructors and fiber optic spools. The Archerfish Destructors are a component of the airborne mine neutralization system. The Navy has a mission need to neutralize bottom, close tethered, and moored sea mines. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $56,208,000. Work will be performed in the United Kingdom and is expected to be completed by August 2018. Fiscal 2014, 2015 and 2016 weapons procurement (Navy) funding in the amount of $22,172,442 will be obligated at time of award and funds in the amount of $11,856,775 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured in accordance with 10 U.S. Code 2304(c)(1) -- BAE is the only responsible source capable of satisfying the Navy’s requirements for the immediate production of the Archerfish Destructor.
