BMI Defense Systems, College Station, Texas, is being awarded a $20,400,000 firm fixed priced, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for a gunnerís protection package for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles. The gunnerís protection package includes a shock attenuating platform which protects the gunner during an improvised explosive device (IED) event by absorbing the shock associated with the event, a user friendly restraint which prevents the gunner from being ejected from the vehicle during a roll-over or IED event, and personal stowage for the gunner. Work will be performed in College Station, Texas, and is expected to be completed by Nov. 2009. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va., is the contracting activity (M67854-08-D-5099).
