The Boeing Co., Long Beach, Calif., is being awarded a $27,009,102 firm-fixed price contract modification to provide for 60 aircraft under subject C-17 production contract to incorporate communication open system architecture. Incorporation of open architecture design are required to: a) accommodate growth and other communication navigation identification enhancements by providing programmable communications and navigation control units; b) minimize future line replaceable unit hardware changes through programmable communication control units; and c) accommodate future communication requirements by bus loadable software changes only. The locations of performance are the Boeing Co., Long Beach (40 percent) and Telephonics Corp., Farmingdale, N.Y. (60 percent). At this time, $7,500,000 of the funds has been obligated. Further funds will be obligated as individual delivery orders are issued. This work will be completed by July 2008. The Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (F33657-02-C-2001, P00003).
